ATP: Grigor Dimitrov also hopes for Andre Agassi in 2019

Grigor Dimitrov gave an insight into his thoughts about a collaboration with Andre Agassi during the Masters Tournament in Paris.

“He’s great,” enthused the Bulgarian about the US legend, “I couldn’t think of a better guy to share thoughts, feelings, emotions on and off the court than him.”

Especially Agassis’ up-and-down career seems to have convinced Dimitrov to knock on his door as an additional coach to Danii Vallverdu. “We’ve known each other for a while,” Dimitrov continues. “He’s one of the few people I can identify with and to whom I can really open up.”

Agassi went through many ups and downs in his career, after a crash up to rank 141 of the world due to an injury and life crisis, he again achieved Grand Slam fame and again reached the top position of the world rankings. The later husband of Steffi Graf celebrated a total of eight major victories.

In 2017 he made a comeback after regaining the fun of tennis and professionalizing himself as he told. The highlight was the unofficial World Champion title at the ATP Finals in London – and third place in the world. 2018 was sobering in view of these successes, Dimitrov reached only one final (in Rotterdam) and will not be able to defend his London title, currently he only occupies 19th place in the annual race.

“Hopefully next year I can travel a little with Andre. In the coming weeks and months we will certainly try to spend more time together,” Dimitrov continues.
