WTA: Sam Stosur separates from her coach

Sam Stosur has to go looking for a coach. The Australian announced her separation from her coach Josh Eagle, with whom she had worked for two years.

For the 15th time in a row, Sam Stosur finishes the year in the top 100 of the world rankings. At 34, the Australian is the third oldest player in the top group behind the Williams sisters – and yet Samantha “Sam” Stosur is open to change.

The number 69 of the world has separated from its long-time coach Josh Eagle after the season is over. For two years the Australian duo worked together, Stosur no notable reason for the separation.

“After the end of my tennis year 2018 and two years of working together, Josh and I decided it was time to go our separate ways. I would like to thank Josh for his dedication to our work and for making me a better player and above all a better person. I wish him and his family all the best for the future and look forward to our friendship next to the place,” Stosur stated in a statement on her Instagram account.

Stosur is one of the fittest players on the Tour and remained injury-free in 2018. However, the figures speak against the 34-year-old in the current calendar year. Sam” played 50 matches and was only 22 times the winner.

The best result was achieved by the 2011 US Open winner at the WTA tournament on Mallorca, when she reached the semi-finals and failed against Anastasija Sevastova. At the Grand Slam tournaments there was nothing for Stosur to get.

A replacement for Eagle in the Stosur team is not yet known.
