ATP Finals: The duo Bryan/Sock reach double finals at the end of the season in London
Mike Bryan and Jack Sock have reached the double final of the ATP finals in London for the first time and will grab the title on Sunday.
After 1:16 hours, the fifth seeded Americans converted their second match point to 6:3, 4:6, 10:4 against Jamie Murray/Bruno Soares (Great Britain/Brazil). 40-year-old Bryan and 26-year-old Sock could thus win their third big title of the season on Sunday after their coups in Wimbledon and at the US Open.
In the London final, either the French Pierre-Hugues Herbert/Nicolas Mahut (No. 8) or the Colombians Juan Sebastian Cabal/Robert Farah (No. 2) are waiting in the impressive o2 Arena. In the duel with Herbert/Mahut, Bryan/Sock could return the favor for defeat in the final group game on Friday (2:6, 2:6).
In the first set, Bryan and Sock used their third break point to score 5:3 and shortly after that, after about half an hour, they managed to get the opening ball. The US duo had entered the semi-finals against two-time Grand Slam champions Murray/Soares with an 18-6 record for the year.
In the second set, the Scotsman and Brazilian first gave away six break points, but the seventh then sat – it was conveniently the second set point. In the match tiebreak the Americans were wide awake and took a decisive 6-2 lead. Bryan/Sock qualified second in their group for the preliminary round. Murray and Soares as victors of their squadron.
