ATP: Alexander Zverev rewards himself with “savoir-vivre” and dolphins
ATP World Champion Alexander Zverev enjoys the Off Season on the Maldives. But the time to relax is tight for the 21-year-old.
The Maldives are the hotspot for tennis professionals this year. “Somehow everyone is there this time,” Angelique Kerber said the other day. The Wimbledon winner, who will return to (fitness) training on Monday, has long since returned from the beach and palm paradise in the Indian Ocean.
Therefore it could not come to an encounter with Alexander Zverev. After a short detour to Dubai, the newly crowned ATP World Champion has now landed well in the Maldives. When approaching the island state, the 21-year-old was even allowed into the cockpit of the small aircraft.
Zverev passes the time with his best buddy Marcelo Melo, the Brazilian double specialist, on the beach – and relaxes watching the dolphins. The time to relax is limited. “On 2 December, 9am in Monte Carlo, I’m ready to train again”, Zverev had announced after his triumph at the ATP finals at the farewell from London.
Only two weeks are left for the world ranking fourth for the Off Season 2018. Already in the days of London Zverev had spoken of an “absurd” and overfilled appointment calendar.
