WTA: Cycling, basketball, Nordic walking: Angelique Kerber launches #MoveYourself programme
Angelique Kerber is one of the most enduring players on the WTA Tour. And the Wimbledon winner is considered an all-rounder. Especially when it comes to incorporating other sports into your fitness program. So it’s fitting that the world ranking second now starts with a #MOVEYOURSELF program.
As a teenager, Angelique Kerber had to make up her mind: Tennis or swimming? In both sports the Kielerin showed outstanding performances. But her heart was beating a little harder for the rebound game. Angie has not regretted her choice to this day.
The vote for Pro Tennis did not, however, result in Kerber exclusively using racquet and felt ball. On the contrary: in your fitness training, elements from other sports are always part of the big picture. “I am interested in many things, always try out new things,” said the three-time Grand Slam Champion Filly.
Kerber would now like to pass on her experiences in the Generali campaign #MOVEYOURSELF. “Especially now, when it gets dark early, many people have to motivate themselves to do sports. But it’s worth it,” explained the world-class athlete.
Kerber, already the protagonist of the #FitMitAngie program, tests a new sport every two weeks. First watch – and then get started yourself, that’s the motto for those who want to get involved. The 30-year-old swings on her mountain bike or walks through the woods as a Nordic Walker (“I did this for the first time”).
The focus, of course, is on ball sports such as basketball, volleyball or table tennis. In view of the wide range of topics, both sports enthusiasts and hobby athletes may feel addressed. “I know from my own experience,” Kerber stressed, “that even small things can lead to success and create a positive feeling.”
Tell us your favourite sport and win with Generali a trip to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in April 2019. With a little luck you’ll meet Angie in the final! In addition, we raffle many more great prizes!
