Dominic Thiem had unfamiliar company at the US Open.A journalist from GQ magazine followed Thiem through time in New York and asked the question:”Dominic Thiem is the future of tennis – but why isn’t anyone interested in him?

Thiem commented on this in an interview with the APA, saying that “I have read it,”Thiem said about the article but disagreed with the view that it received too little recognition internationally and caused too little interest. The GQ came to this because Thiel’s press conferences were rarely well attended and many questions were asked not by the journalists, but by the camerawoman.”I just think I’m a bit of a different type,”says Thiem, who pointed to his favourite booth where it matters: on the court.”I’m always put in the big places.”

Still,”I don’t need the spotlight, not at all.I feel most comfortable in normal life.I don’t want to change myself either, just so there are more people in the interview room or something.I’m probably a little too normal to see a hype start,”Thiem said.

After the Laver Cup in Prague, Thiem will play tennis next weekend in Chengdu, Tokyo, Shanghai, Vienna and Paris – and in London at the ATP World Tour Finals. The summer was a bit bitterly natural, but that was not satisfactory.Hopefully things will be better in Asia.”
