WTA: Siegemund ahead of 2018 comeback:”Will have good results again.”
Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) does not put pressure on her comeback after her severe injury.
“I want to get back on board in 2018.Gladly as early as possible, but only when her knee is fully fit again,”said the 29-year-old four months after her cruciate ligament rupture to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung:”Rehabilitation is going well, everyone is so far satisfied, but of course it’s still a long process.”
Siegemund broke the cruciate ligament at the end of May at the WTA tournament in Nuremberg in the match against the Czech Barbora Krejickova.Shortly before that, she had won her home tournament in Stuttgart and had advanced to 30th place in the world rankings.
“I have goals, but not in terms of results or rankings.I would like to go out again with joy,”continued Siegemund:”Before my injury I had a good overall package.I was really fit, I felt mentally very strong and I also put into practice in a playful way what we had trained.I would like to come back to this stand. And then I know I’ll have good results again.”
