ATP: Nick Kyrgios has five-year plan
He often doesn’t seem to care where he ends up – but secretly Nick Kyrgios obviously has big goals. That’s what he said to some kids in a school.
He often varies in his performance and opinions, but deep down in his heart, the Australian has big goals. At a school in Canberra on Wednesday, he asked where he wanted to be in five years’ time:”There is still a lot of work ahead of me. I have to work hard and take it every day, but I’d like to be in the top five and I’d like to attack number one.”
Kyrgios also admitted that without tennis he didn’t really know what to do:”Maybe I would be a tennis coach. Or I’d go to college, but for that I’d have to go back to school and listen to my teachers.”
Actually, I loved to play computer games and didn’t start too much with my life. Then my mum dragged me to a tennis court. My parents loved this sport, they grew up with it.”
In contrast to many other performances, Kyrgios expressed his gratitude for his existence on the tour:”We lead a very special life and are very fortunate. I love to compete with others, go out and have fun. That’s why I play.”
Kyrgios attended elementary school in Canberra as part of the Tennis Hot Shots Program, which has distributed more than 80,000 tennis rackets to children since 2015.
