ATP: Radek Stepanek soon coach of Novak Djokovic?

According to media reports, the recently resigned Radek Stepanek could soon strengthen the coaching team of Novak Djokovic. The Serbian will start the coming season together with Andre Agassi and Stepanek.

“In which sector can I be better than in tennis,”Radek Stepanek asked when he announced the end of his career:”Should I enter the business world, start a company? Should I open a restaurant or become a car dealer?”

The Czech resigned from the tennis stage last week because of persistent back problems. Originally he wanted to continue his career until the Olympic Games in 2020, but the chronic pain made this impossible. However, Stepanek seems to have already found a plan for his future.

“I think I know this sport inside out, and I’ve had incredible experiences in my career. I’ve been through so much, I think I’ll pass this on to someone else someday.”

This day seems to come much earlier than expected. As reported among others by iDNES. cz, Novak Djokovic is said to be interested in Stepanek’s engagement as a trainer. The Czech media reported that the cooperation was already decided upon and will be announced in the next few days.

Djokovic has long been well known that Djokovic thinks a lot of the former number eight in the world:”He was a player with an enviable career who got the most out of his potential,” said Djokovic after Stepanek’s resignation. That is why he is a man of very similar values to me.

Stepanek could soon join the coach team of Djokovic and support the Serbian together with Andre Agassi on the tour. Djokovic hasn’t played a single match since his assignment against Tomas Berdych in Wimbledon.

At the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi at the end of December he will be back on the tennis court for the first time. In addition to Djokovic, Stan Wawrinka, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem were also invited to the show fight.
