WTA: Back-hand winner!

For the fifth time in a row, Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland wins the WTA Award for the best stroke of the year. In 2017 Julia Görges was the victim of Radwanska’s first class.

After Agnieszka Radwanska did not get enough for the Fan Favorite Award and Simona Halep finished the Polish woman’s run of six years in a row as the winner this year, there is still an award for the 28-year-old. A point win against the German Julia Görges was voted WTA-Score of the Year.

Here too, Radwanska holds an incredible series:”Aga” wins this award for the fifth time in a row. The stroke of luck was successful in the match against Görges in Wuhan.

With a score of 7:5 and 2:1 the number 28 of the world won a breakball. A hard serve from Görges blocked Radwanska into the semi-field, Görges followed the ball well and forced her opponent with a strong forehand to an emergency strike. The German put the backhand drive volley with a great angle on the backhand side of her opponent. Radwanska suspected the corner and set to the longline passing shot, surprised “Jule” and grabbed the break.

In the end, the winner of the award was 7:5 and 7:5. The award has been presented since 2013 and since then the Polish woman has won in this category every year.

The scene can be found here in the video:

Radwanska (27%) was also in second place of the vote, but with one stroke from the tournament in Sydney. Third place went to Daria Kasatkina (10%) and Caroline Wozniacki (8%) took fourth place.
