ATP: Novak Djokovic enjoys time at home: kayaking instead of tennis
Novak Djokovic took a few days off and returned to his native Belgrade. There, the Serb tried out another sport.
Tennis does not really seem to be the focus of Novak Djokovic at the moment. Shortly before the important ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Madrid and Rome, the Serbian ATP star was deeply relaxed in his native Belgrade. Djokovic seems to want to escape the hustle and bustle around his current constitution with other activities.
Besides having fun with his friends and brothers Dordje and Marko, the ex-number one tried out kayaking and cut a good figure.
Equipped with a yellow life jacket, Djokovic paddled on the water with coach Marian Vajda and fitness coach Gebhart Gritsch, with whom he reunited.
Djokovic and his team are openly convinced that versatile training leads to better results on the tennis court. Besides kayaking, the “Djoker” does a lot of yoga and flexibility training.
Besides the paddle tour, Djokovic took the chance to meet the Serbian kayak stars Bojana Zdelar and Maria Dostanic and to exchange ideas about the respective sport.
The 12-time Grand Slam champion will return to the tennis court next week at the Mutua Madrid Open. After the bitter first round out in Barcelona, Djokovic is still looking for his form. Maybe the kayak tour helped him…
