The WTA Finals will be held for the 48th time this year. Singapore will host the tournament for the last time in 2018.

The WTA Finals will take place this year from 21 to 28 October. The matches will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang.

This year, the TV rights for the WTA finals lie with two paid offers. Both Sport1+ and DAZN broadcast games. DAZN is a sports streaming service that shows tennis matches as well as highlights from many other sports such as football, basketball, darts or football. A total of eight players fight for the title. The decisive factor for the qualification is the ranking of the WTA Tour 2018. In addition to the eight best placed players, the next two best points will be reserved.

In the round tournament phase, the eight players are first drawn in two groups with four participants each and play in the format of each against each other.

The first two players in the group qualify for the semi-finals. There the group winner plays against the second player of the other group. The winners of these games will eventually make it to the final.

After the four Grand Slam tournaments, the WTA Finals are the women’s tennis tournament with the highest points and prize money. A total of 7 million euros in prize money will be distributed.

Angelique Kerber will play at the WTA Finals without her coach Wim Fissette.

Shortly before the start of the tournament, the German top player unexpectedly separated from her coach. In November 2017, Fissette succeeded Torben Beltz, Kerber’s long-term coach. “Despite the successful cooperation since the beginning of the season, this step became necessary due to differing views on future direction,” Kerber’s management announced.
