Davis Cup: Infection: Zverev has to cancel for Germany against Australia

For the German Davis Cup team, the first rejection of the match is hailing before the hammer duel against Australia. Davis Cup captain Michael Kohlmann has to reschedule against the “Aussies”.

This rejection is in the offing. Mischa Zverev has to cancel for the upcoming Davis Cup match of the German men against Australia.

The reason for the cancellation is the persistent infection Zverev caught at the Australian Open. In the first round, the 30-year-old had to give up in the middle of the second set against Hyeon Chung. The infection was accompanied by an inflammation of the periosteum in the left shoulder. Only a few days later, it became known that Zverev had to prepare for a mega fine, as he allegedly went into the game stricken – with a fine of 45,000 dollars being charged.

Davis Cup boss Michael Kohlmann commented on the rejection of the older of the two Zverev brothers:”I am very sorry for him. Kohlmann says that Zverev is on his way home to get well again,” He tried everything he can to play here, but in the end it didn’t make any sense.

Against Australia the German Tennis Association can count on Alexander Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff and will probably go into the singles next Friday with Zverev and Struff (from 03:00 CET live on DAZN).
