At the Senior Master Cup in Marbella, McEnroe said:”Nick was a key player in the team and played his best tennis in such competitions.I’m happy to have worked there as a coach, and if a player like him asked me if I’d coach him, I would.”
McEnroe, as an active professional, was also a very emotional player, so he knows the 22-year-old’s anger outbursts from his own experience and could be helpful as a counselor at such moments for the world’s number 20.Sebastien Grosjean is currently training Kyrgios.
The seven-time Grand Slam Champion not only revealed his offer as coach.McEnroe seems to be a real Kyrgios fan.The American believes Kyrgios is capable of making a major coup:”He is the most talented player on the tour.He can win a Grand Slam title, but there are other young players like Denis Shapovalov or Frances Tiafoe who can become great champions.”
Former pro Pat Cash also trusts Kyrgios with a Grand Slam title, as he also explained at the Senior Master Cup:”Nick is very talented and has a complete game that will help him win a Grand Slam title.”
The fact that Kyrgios has what it takes to become a champion has often been proven. However, with his flipping out and the loutish behaviour, he often stands in his own way.Recently, however, the Enfant terrible seems to have a better grip on itself – which also proves its performance increase.
