ATP: Richard Gasquet first finalist in Montpellier

Richard Gasquet’s strong performance: former top ten player David Goffin, who defeated the tournament’s favourite David Goffin in Montpellier, is now waiting for the winner of the game Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Lucas Pouille in the final.

One thing has already been decided after the first semi-final of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament: In Montpellier there will be a home win in 2018. And like last year, Richard Gasquet will play for the title on Sunday. At that time, however, the 31-year-old was defeated by Alexander Zverev in two sets. Germany’s number one is not at the start this year.

Gasquet, after a short slack in the second set against David Goffin, in Montpellier at position one, was 6-4,6-6 and 6-3 without damage and now plays either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Lucas Pouille.

In the match against Goffin, Gasquet used his first match ball after 1:48 hours, a forehand of the Belgian sailed out. For the Frenchman, who fell back to 33rd place in the world ranking, Montpellier is looking for his fourth title: Gasquet had already succeeded in 2013,2015 and 2016.
