Tennis: Next Generation Dominic: New management team seeks Thiem successor

On Wednesday, the Styrian tennis association headed by President Barbara Mahr launched a project to promote talent in Austrian tennis. Next Generation Dominic (NEXGENDOMI) is a management training institute that aims to support young boys and girls in cooperation with the Province of Styria and the tennis academy run by trainer Günter Bresnik.

In the next three years, at least eight top talents in the age groups from U12 to U16 will be supported:”It’s strong what’s happening here,”said Günter Bresnik, patron of the project.”I’ve been preaching for 20 years that you have to start with the kids at this age.”

More than 350 youngsters have already been cast within the scope of the project, and 20 candidates for NEXTGENDOMI emerged. The trainer team around Bresnik, to which Thomas Muster is also to belong, reduces the group again in additional training sessions.

“Parents and players must be aware that this training is not going to be a honeypot,” explains Dominic Thiem’s supervisor.”The way to the top requires discipline, consistency and an unconditional commitment to professional tennis.

The aim of the project is to prepare talent for an international career as a professional athlete over a period from 2018 to 2020.

“We have outstanding figures in tennis amateur sports in Styria, and now it’s a question of forming top players of the future from the broadest possible range,”said Sports State Councillor Anton Lang. In addition, there will be an opportunity to perform at the performance centre of the Styrian Leibnitz until the end of March.
