The Miami Open is once again one of the most prestigious tournaments in tennis. SPOX shows you where you can follow the tournament live and gives you all the important information about the schedule and the participants.
The Miami Open takes place from 19. March until 01. April in Key Biscayne near Miami. This year for the last time, the venue is the Tennis Center at Crandon Park, which can accommodate 13,800 spectators. From 2019, the event will move to Hard Rock Stadium, where the Miami Dolphins will play in the NFL.
Like the previous tournament in Indian Wells, this tournament will be held as a combined event. So both men and women play at the same time. The WTA tournament of the Miami Open will be broadcast by DAZN streaming service. Meanwhile, the ATP competition can only be seen on pay-TV channel Sky.

Both the women’s and men’s tournaments belong to the highest category below the Grand Slams. For the WTA it is a so-called Premier Mandatory Event, for the men it belongs to the ATP Masters 1000 Series.
Both series bring the winner resp. the winner receives 1000 points each for the world ranking list. For comparison: Grand Slam tournament victories are worth 2000 points each.
At the Miami Open, as at the four Grand Slam tournaments, the prize money in the men’s and women’s competition is identical.
All in all, the field of participants at the Miami Open is very prominent. However, some top men like Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray or Stan Wawrinka have to fit due to injury. From a German perspective, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Florian Mayer also had to follow suit. From a German perspective, only Alexander Zverev and successor Maximilian Marterer will be present.
Since Laura Siegemund cancelled, only two Germans, Angelique Kerber and Julia Görges, are also in the ladies’ group.
