WTA: Witthöft playfully reaches the round of 16 in Miami

Carina Witthöft (23) has lost her way into the round of 16 at the high-class WTA tournament in Miami.

After the world rankings-57. from Hamburg against Kazakh Zarina Diyas at 5:3 in the second set, she could no longer win the game. Witthöft lost 6:4, 5:7, 0:6. In the previous round, she surprisingly beat the German number two Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe).

From a German perspective, only top player Angelique Kerber has a chance of advancing in Florida. The former world number one from Kiel will meet Anastasia Pavlyutschenkova on Saturday. Kerber has lost the last three duels against the Russian.
