The round of 16 in Monte Carlo is not yet complete. On Wednesday Novak Djokovic and two Germans will try to qualify for the round of the last 16 in the Principality.

Novak Djokovic left no questions unanswered at his premiere appearance in Monte Carlo in 2018 and his Serbian compatriot Dusan Lajovic only one game. Whether this was due to the coaching effect of Marian Vajda or Lajovic’s inability will already become apparent on Wednesday. Djokovic played Borna Coric once and won on clay in Rome in 2016.
On the other hand, the young Croatian took advantage of the mentoring services of the great Serb and sought advice from Djokovic in his early years. Coric’s good performances (in Indian Wells he had Roger Federer on the brink of defeat) are reflected in the annual ranking, he is 15th in the Race to London, 75 places ahead of Djokovic.

It is quite possible that Philipp Kohlschreiber benefited from the tiredness of his opponent Tennys Sandgren on Tuesday after his late arrival from Houston to Monte Carlo. But Kohlschreiber can do every stroke better than the American. You could rightly say that before the match with Ramos-Vinolas.
He, in turn, will enter this year’s Ashes classic with enormous pressure: the Spaniard reached the final here in 2017, but had no chance against Rafael Nadal there. The only match between the two was a long time ago: in 2013 Kohlschreiber won 6:4 and 6:1 on clay in Rome.

Two Davis Cup players who have shaken the fatigue out of their legs during the last week. And also the disappointment: Fognini lost at home with the Italians against the defending champions from France, losing the match on Sunday against Lucas Pouille. Struff and Tim Pütz won the doubles match for Germany and too little against Spain in the end.
Once they met on the ATP tour so far, in Munich in 2014 Fognini won 6:3 and 6:1. A match against the German number one, Alexander Zverev, will be offered.
Here the single tableau in Monte Carlo
