ATP: Becker to 2020 expert at Eurosport – Praise for Zverev

Germany’s tennis icon Boris Becker will remain an expert on Eurosport. The 50-year-old, Head of Men’s Tennis at the DTB, extended his contract with the TV station until 2020.

“Something was born there. That’s why I didn’t have to think long. I really enjoy my work,” said Becker in Munich on Friday. The day before, the six-time Grand Slam winner had been inducted into the Hall of Fame of tennis. The ceremony was held on the Centre Court during the ATP Masters in Monte Carlo.

At Eurosport, Becker will be live on air every day together with commentator Matthias Stach at the Grand Slam tournaments in Melbourne, Paris and New York. Becker is “a great asset to all tennis fans,” said Susanne Aigner-Drews, Managing Director of Discovery Networks Germany. It offers “unique insights into the world of tennis stars”.

At the French Open in Paris (27 May to 10 June) Eurosport will be joined by Becker to join the team: Barbara Rittner, Head of Women’s Tennis of the association, will analyse the women’s matches until the middle of the second week of the tournament.

At the contract extension, Becker once again praised Germany’s top player Alexander Zverev. He was “the best 21-year-old in the world. We’re lucky to have him. It’s only a matter of time before he gets to the top.”
