Porsche Race to Singapore: Angie Kerber fights for Zhuhai

Angelique Kerber’s train to Singapore has left for the season’s final destination, Zhuhai.

Simona Halep has been leading the Porsche Race to Singapore since this week and has relegated Garbine Muguruza to second place.This is followed by Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina, Caroline Wozniacki, Venus Williams and Jelena Ostapenko, all of whom are already firmly qualified for the season finale.

Caroline Garcia, who passed Johanna Contacts, is ninth in eighth place after her Beijing victory.The Briton must now at least reach the final in Moscow to get past Garcia again.

Angelique Kerber has improved by one position compared to last week and is currently ranked number 18, she has no chance to reach Singapore.Angie’s focus is now on the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai from 30.October to 5.November.Twelve participants will be competing here: the eleven players, who will be playing on 25.The first two women are ranked 9th to 19th in the rankings on October 20 – plus either number 20 or a participant with a wildcard.Kerber is not on duty this week.

Maria Sharapova, who is still on the comeback path, is currently in 81st place in the race, an improvement of 13 places.She will be playing in Tianjin, China this week and should be competing against the tournament’s number one player, Caroline Garcia.However, the French woman resigned due to an injury to her right thigh.Sharapova now meets Irina-Camelia Begu.
