Double premiere at the women’s tennis classic in Linz: Magdalena Rybarikova is number one for the first time in her career at the WTA tournament, which is called “Upper Austria Ladies Linz” for the first time!
The 29-year-old Slovakian is happy to be in Linz, as she explained at a press conference on Monday morning in the VIP club of the TipsArena.Mayor Dr. Dr. Mayor of Linz was particularly pleased that she came out as a big Linz fan.Klaus Luger.”Yes, I love this city and its delicacies.Breakfast here in Austria is really the best,” Rybarikova further emphasized:”This year is simply unbelievable for me.I’m currently number 28 in the world, and I’m the number one bet.I feel good and look forward to the start of this tournament.I haven’t been very successful in Linz so far.”
As a reminder: Magdalena Rybarikova has had a long dry spell, because she had an injury misery in 2016 with two operations – on her knee and wrist.It wasn’t until the end of February 2017 that she came back, initially on the smaller ITF tour, but in March she had crashed to 453rd place in the world rankings.
But then the Slovak surprised herself and celebrated a fabulous comeback with her semi-final entry in Wimbledon.This was also her greatest career success to date.Her success was stopped by the eventual winner Garbine Muguruza from Spain.Especially lawn, but also hard courts are her favourite surfaces.This September she made her first jump into the top 30 of the world rankings.Magdalena Rybarikova has won four WTA titles so far.
