ATP: Rafael Nadal as a guest of Madrid’s footballers – with the wrong team

Rafael Nadal is a football fan and has been seen with the stars of Real Madrid from time to time. Now the Spaniard visited another game in Madrid – but the “wrong” club.

A few years ago, the Spaniard even received a performance at the Estadio Stantiago de Bernabéu, the Real Madrid venue, and was celebrated by the fans with standing ovations. The appearance at the city rival Atletico is therefore extremely unusual, although from a purely sporting point of view the visit of such a match is of course worthwhile.

Prior to this, Rafa completed a training session at the Caja Magica to prepare for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. The Spaniard and his team visited the football match. His two managers Benito Perez Barbadillo and Carlos Costa also followed the action on the pitch.

During the half-time break Nadal said: “It would be great if two teams from Madrid would be in the finals of the European competitions. Atletico won the game 1-0 (1-0) and reached the final. Real fan Nadal also admitted that Atletico plays good and effective football.

The fan scarf of the city rival around Nadal’s neck is excused with the thought of the general football interest, so explained at least some fans of the “royal” in the social networks. So nothing stands in the way of another performance at the Bernabéu.
