French Open: Novak Djokovic wins next three sets in round three

Novak Djokovic is in the third round of the French Open 2018: The former world number one defeated Jaume Munar from Spain in three narrow sets.

Former world number one Novak Djokovic was also unscathed in round two at the French Open in Paris. The 2016 winner beat the Spaniard Jaume Munar 7:6 (7:1), 6:4, 6:4. However, the 30-year-old needed 2:18 hours for his second three-set win in Roland Garros and took three breaks, among other things.

Djokovic did not seem fully focused for long stretches of the match, repeatedly allowing small comebacks of his opponent, who had defeated his compatriot David Ferrer in round one. At important moments, especially in the first set tie-break, Djokovic showed his class, never in danger of falling behind on the court of Suzanne Lenglen.

In his opening match, Djokovic beat the Brazilian Rogerio Dutra Da Silva 6:3, 6:4, 6:4. The former dominator from Serbia, who fell out of the top 20 in the world rankings last week for the first time in twelve years, is currently slowly emerging from his ongoing form crisis.

At the Masters in Rome, Djokovic reached a semi-final for the first time this season immediately before the tournament began. There he failed due to the overwhelming Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who subsequently also won the final against Alexander Zverev (Hamburg).
