From 2 to 15 July 2018, one of the four major Grand Slam tennis tournaments will be held in London: Wimbledon. SPOX shows you how to get tickets and what prices to expect.
The Wimbledon Championships are the third of the four Grand Slam tournaments in tennis. Wimbledon is considered the most traditional and prestigious tournament, which is also due to the fact that it is played on grass.
As one of the few major sporting events in the UK, Wimbledon sells many tickets for fans at the entrance. However, the snakes can quickly become very long. Only one ticket is available per person and no tickets to the Centre Court are sold for the last four days.
Tickets are also available online one day before the respective day. The limit is two tickets per person and the tickets are sold on a “first come, first serve” basis. Many ticket providers have Wimbledon tickets in their range, but you are on the safe side on the official website. Tickets are available here.
All prices are in pounds sterling.
Defending champion Roger Federer is also the record winner of Wimbledon. The Swiss triumphed eight times in London. German winners were three times Boris Becker (1985, 1986, 1985) and Michael Stich (1991).
The American Martina Navratilova is the record winner in the women’s singles with nine wins. In recent years, her countrywoman Serena Williams has dominated, but her sister Venus has also won the tournament several times. German winners were Cilly Aussem (1931) and Steffi Graf (1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996). Last time Sabine Lisicki and Angelique Kerber were in the final.
