WTA: Sevastova wins Bucharest final against Martin

Anastasiya Sevastova has won the WTA tournament in Bucharest. The Latvian defeats Petra Martic from Croatia in three sets.

The final lasted 93 minutes in the Romanian capital, after a 7-6 (4) and 6-2 win over Petra Martic, Sevastova were congratulated on their third title on the WTA Tour. Sevastova had lost 6-1 and 6-1 to their final opponent in Roland Garros just over a year ago.

And even with the tournament in Bucharest, the 28-year-old has not had good memories to date: Two years ago, she had not won a single game against local hero Simona Halep.

The match against Martic was marked by many service losses, the Croatian, set in fourth place in Bucharest, served in round one at 5:4 on the set win.

Sevastova came back, took the first act in the tiebreak – and at the end she was able to book 30 winning strokes in her balance sheet. The last one with the forehand brought her the third title of her career after Mallorca 2017 and Oeiras 2010.
