ATP-Challenger/ITF-Round-up: Choinski with Meerbusch-Finale, Jahn and Heller with titles

Jan Choinski reached the final of the ATP-Challenger-Tournament in Meerbusch, where he lost 7:6 (7), 3:6, 3:6 against the Slovak Filip Horansky.

Choinski had defeated Dustin Brown (6:4, 6:3) in the semi-finals of the 43,000 Euro event, while Horansky defeated the two youngsters Nicola Kuhn (6:4, 1:6, 6:1) and Rudi Molleker (7:6 (4), 6:2) on the way to the final. Molleker, for his part, had won in the quarter-finals against the tournament’s number two, Pedro Sousa. It was the first title on the Challenger tour for 25-year-old Horansky.

Some German players were also successful at the ITF Pro Circuit: Jeremy Jahn won the final in Bydgoszcz/Poland (25,000 US dollars) against the Brazilian Pedro Sakamoto 6:3, 6:4 and won his second Future title of the year. Top seeded Peter Heller beat local hero Jannik Sinner 6-1, 6-3 in Santa Cristina val Gardena/Italy (15,000 US dollars) and secured his fourth Future title in 2018.

Paul Wörner made it to the final in Karlsruhe (15,000 Euro), where he had to admit defeat to top seeded Ivan Gakhov from Russia 6:7 (5), 3:6. In the double, Kai Wehnelt won 7:5, 7:5 against Tomas Martin Etcheverry/Alejo Vilaro at Hugo Voljaques’ side.

Tayisiya Morderger reached the semi-finals in Oldenzaal/Netherlands (15,000 US dollars), but lost 6:7 (5), 4:6 against Arianne Hartono.
