128 players will start in New York on Tuesday to secure one of the last 16 places in the main draw of the US Open. Also Sabine Lisicki and Mona Barthel. Four German participants will try their hand at the men’s event.
The German colours will be represented by six women in the qualification for the last Grand Slam tournament of the year: Anne Schäfer, for example, has to deal with Georgina Garcia Perez in round one. Mona Barthel, eighth seeded, will play Lucie Hradecka from the Czech Republic.
Antonia Lottner, in turn, has won the number 28 of the three-stage competition with Viktoriya Tomova.
In the lower half of the tableau, the Israeli Deniz Khazaniuk is waiting for Tamara Korpatsch. Sabine Lisicki plays against Olga Govortsova Belarus. Anna Zaja and the Chinese Lin Zhu have to defeat the player in twelfth place.
Perhaps interesting from an international point of view: Eugenie Bouchard must also go beyond qualification, she will meet her Canadian compatriot Carol Zhao. And the American super talent Cori Gauff has drawn an experienced opponent in Heather Watson.

A little smaller is the German delegation among the gentlemen:
Oscar Otte starts against the Australian Marc Polmans, in case of success Jozef Kovalik could wait. Daniel Brands is dealing with Vaclav Safranek. Matthias Bachinger will play against the Frenchman Calvin Hemery, while Yannick Maden has been drawn against the Egyptian Mohamed Safwat.
Interesting by the way that on the one hand Ivo Karlovic has to qualify. And that the Australian duel between Bernard Tomic and Thanasi Kokkinakis will take place in round one.
