Three finals – three titles: The German players have struck on the ITF tour this weekend!
Tamara Korpatsch has won the tournament in Biarritz/France, which is heavily occupied and endowed with 80,000 US dollars. The 23-year-old marched through the tableau as an unseeded player without losing a set. In the final she defeated the Swiss Timea Bacsinszky 6-2, 7-5 and won her first tournament success at the ITF Pro Circuit this year – overall it was the seventh. Top seeded Carina Witthöft was eliminated in round two. Korpatsch should come close to her best ranking position of 124th place next week. (The results of the ITF Tour are ranked with a week delay.)
Louis Weßels won the $25,000 Future tournament in Santa Margherita Di Pula/Italy in the final against local hero Marco Bortolotti 6:3, 5:7, 6:1, the third consecutive victory on the ITF Future Tour in 2018 for the 20-year-old.
Weßels is currently listed on rank 412 of the world, in the coming week he will make up about 60 places again and rank 350 – a new best value!
Lucas Gerch also celebrated a tournament victory. He won the $15,000 tournament in Iasi/Romania with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kirill Kivattsev in the final – the first tournament success on the ITF Pro Circuit for 23-year-old Gerch. Next week he will crack the top 1000 of the world for the first time and rank 850th.
A Habfinal in Nottingham/Great Britain (15,000 US dollars) was won by Constantin Schmitz, a double victory by Christian Seraphim and Luke Johnson in Monastir/Tunisia (15,000 US dollars).
