ATP: Maximilian Marterer already eliminated in Metz

Maximilian Marterer was eliminated in the first round of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Metz. The German Davis Cup player defeated Ricardas Berankis from Lithuania in three sets.

2:15 hours torture and Berankis fought a duel, which was mainly determined by the serve. The 28-year-old Lithuanian made better use of his chances, however, winning Marterer’s serve in the very last game to 7:6 (1), 6:7 (1), and 6:4.

Marterer is currently 57th in the ATP World Ranking, but has had an experience of success since his entry into the quarter-finals of the Generali Open.

Matthias Bachinger qualified for the main field of the ATP World Tour 250 tournament. Defending champion Peter Gojowczyk has to play Jo-Wilfried Tsonga right at the start. Philipp Kohlschreiber will play Mischa Zverev on Monday evening.
