Young star Sebastian Wojta ended the 2018 Challenger season with an impressive performance on Tuesday evening, just as he had opened it ten months earlier in January of this year. With a victory that could hardly be surpassed in its sovereignty in the final of the 9th edition of the HTT-Challenger-Tour-Finals. The 16-year-old top favourite for the title at the big season final of the best Challenger players at UTC La Ville, gave his Slovakian final opponent Martin Priban a lesson of just 50 minutes in his 50th HTT career single and prevailed against his 14-year-old opponent from WAT Landstrasse with 6:2 and 6:0. Wojta thus celebrated his second HTT season and career title and earned a winner’s cheque for the amount of a free tennis year 2019 at the HTT. From the UTC La Ville reported for hobbytennistour.at C.L
Sebastian Wojta of SV Haas Leobendorf has lived up to his clear favourite role at the 9th edition of the HTT-Challenger-Tour-Finals 2018, and on Tuesday evening he has stormed towards the most important seasonal title on HTT-Challenger level with a canters victory. After a phenomenal performance, the 16-year-old declassified Martin Priban, who also made a convincing showing into the final, 6-2, 6-0 in just 50 minutes and turned his Challenger farewell performance into a breathtaking gala. Seldom has a match statist from hobbytennistour.at been as clear as the one from last Tuesday evening, when Wojta also announced his claim to have a say on the 250cc level next year.
More than twice as many points (61:30) as his opponent made, 31 winners with only 16 unforced mistakes, and 100 percent points won after the first serve, Wojta delivered a more than brilliant performance in front of his coach and his daddy. While Priban was hyper nervously tackling the most important single match of his HTT career so far with a double fault and three so-called unforced errors from the baseline, Wojta showed no nerves in the showdown around the HTT-Challenger-Crown 2018, and confirmed the early break to the 2-0 lead. Priban again had trouble in the third game of the first set again to write with the sixth match ball finally result technical, and to shorten to 1:2. Wojta, on the other hand, continued to serve like a hangman and could even afford his first double fault on the way to 3-1. Priban once again put up a lot of resistance in the service game that followed, fending off three break chances for Wojtas to 4-1 and turning his fourth ball into a 2-3 draw. But Priban had done his duty in this final. The 14-year-old slipped into a debacle without a chance. Three games en suite gave Wojta the 1-0 set lead after only 33 minutes, before passage 2 ended in an execution. After only another 16 minutes Wojta had won 25:6 points and had the hand finally on the pot, and Papa Andreas had produced an air jump with joy.
“In the beginning I was still a bit tight, but then I relaxed relatively quickly. Especially with the first break everything went much easier. Physically, despite my cold, I was better than expected. But by and large I’m very satisfied with my performance, and I’m extremely happy to have won the title here at the HTT-Challenger-Tour-Finals”, beamed the winner. “Everybody knows these days when you may play quite well at times, but still fall short of expectations. Today was such a day, and I never had a suitable answer to his spin-rich and tempo-filled strokes in any phase of this final. Nevertheless, I have achieved my personal goal for the HTT-Challenger-Tour-Finals, and I would like to congratulate Senastian on winning the title”, the Slovakian young star said goodbye.
