Lucas Pouille’s supposed to have a new coach. According to a media report, the Frenchman is in agreement with the ex-gamer Amélie Mauresmo.
After Emmanuel Planque, it is now time for another French coach for Lucas Pouille. According to a report by the L’Equipe, she was rather a trainer.
The 39-year-old was considered one of the best players in the world during her active time and was particularly enraptured by her enormous physique. From June 2014 to May 2016 the Frenchwoman looked after Andy Murray from Scotland and led the ex-number to various titles.
Mauresmo, who ebanfalls ranked first in the world rankings, is one of the few women in the Tennsi circuit to have coached a professional on the ATP tour. Pouille now wants to use these services after the 2018 season was unexpectedly bad for the 24-year-old.
Together with Planque, Pouille was hoping for the next career boost from the great start to the season. At the beginning of March 2018, France’s tennis hopeful was ranked tenth in the ATP ranking. After that the performance level of the Frenchman dropped drastically.
France’s number one in major tournaments was disappointed and Pouille’s Davis Cup final was anything but successful. The 24-year-old lost the decisive singles match against the Croatian Marin Cilic to a 3-1 final score for the Croatian Davis Cup team.
Mauresmo should now bring the necessary momentum to Pouille’s game. After six years of working with Planque, the 39-year-old could breathe fresh air into the seemingly deadlocked bonds of the Frenchman’s long-standing collaboration with his ex-coach. The fact that Mauresmo is also the captain of the French Davis Cup team should not be an obstacle.
Pouille travelled against the new fornat of the traditional competition and will no longer compete for France. There is therefore no conflict with the cooperation with Mauresmo and the national team in this respect.
