It was nothing like winning 20 and 21 at the end of your career. The top seeded Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-Jan were defeated by Timea Babos/Andrea Hlavackova 4-6,6-7 (5) in the semi-final of the WTA finals.

“Of course, we would have liked to have taken the trophy with us, but they were too good,”Hingis said afterwards,”We had a lot going against us today, but we also won enough games this season where it was the other way round. This is sports, this is tennis.”

The 2017 double season was a great success for Hingis. She won nine titles at Chan’s side, including the US Open; they will also be number 1 in the world rankings at the end of the year,”We can’t be too disappointed, we had a big year,”said Hingis.

Chan said she tried to change Hingis’ mind over and over again throughout the season, unfortunately in vain. She said she was looking for a new partner,”Otherwise I’ll end up playing singles,”she joked. I’m also looking forward to watching Yung-Jan in the future – or to stepping in as a hitting partner.”
