WTA: Steffi Graf: A trainer in the family is enough

Actually, they all want to see Steffi Graf as a trainer on tour again – but Steffi Graf made a clear statement this weekend.

There is always speculation whether Steffi Graf could not at least act as a “super coach” with Angelique Kerber. Boris Becker, in particular, connects the 22-time major winner with Kerber over and over again – and has a logical starting point:”After all, her husband is back again,”Becker said some time ago. Agassi has been working alongside Novak Djokovic since last spring, although Djokovic has finished his season after the Wimbledon tournament due to injury, but Agassi will also be at his side in 2018.

However, this seems to be one of the main criteria for Graf not to get into coaching:”I think it’s enough for two children to leave one parent at home. When two parents are gone, there’s trouble with two teenagers,”said Graf at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, where she is a tournament ambassador.

“Andre is committed to helping Novak, but he will not be there for a whole year and will be there at all the tournaments. I think they will pick out a few,”Graf continued. Our life with the kids and our foundation keeps us pretty much on the go. So, unfortunately, there’s nothing in it at the moment.”
