ATP finals: Rusedski:”Dimitrov’s time has come.”

In the duel between Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin, the next semi-finalist will be looked for at the Nitto ATP Finals in London. Especially the Bulgarian Dimitrov is the expert’s favorite for the advancement and is made obligatory by ex-professional Greg Rusedski.

In the second game, Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgarian Republic will have to deal with David Goffin. The Belgian defeated Rafael Nadal in his first-round game, Dimitrov defeated Dominic Thiem in three sets – for both of them it’s their first appearance at the finals in London. Dimitrov showed great form against Thiem and in the end kept the upper hand with 6-3,5-7 and 7-5 against the improved Austrian, who after a difficult second half of the season found his way back to old strength in the opening game. Goffin was also in top form at its premiere.

The local experts, however, see the 26-year-old Bulgarians in better shape and believe Dimitrov will be able to reach the semi-finals with a win. Former pro Annabel Croft commented on Dimitrov’s favourite role:”I think the conditions are really playing Dimitrov very, very well in the cards. However, he had difficulties to finish a match – but I think Grigor will win,”said the 51-year-old Briton.

Another ex-professional also announced his expertise on the outcome of the game. Croft’s compatriot Gregory “Greg” Rusedski sees the better chances also on the part of the man from Haskovo and takes Dimitrov into his duty:”It will be tight, but I think that now Dimitrov’s moment has come. Everyone talks about being a superstar, but now is the time for his breakthrough,”the 44-year-old added. The current number six in the world is the more complete player, Rusedski said,”The backhand and return to service are with Goffin, but the rest is on Dimitrov’s side. I’m betting on him,”says the former serve giant.

In fact, Dimitrov is the best season of his career and won the Masters-1000 tournament in Cincinnati, celebrating his greatest title. The 26-year-old’s variable and fast game play fits perfectly on the ground in the O2-arena. Dimitrov achieved his greatest successes on hard court and seems to be able to transform his talent into victories. For a long time, he was attached to the image of eternal talent. Now the Bulgarian has the chance to convince even the last critics of himself.
