ATP Finals: Dimitrov after Gala in London semi-final

After a gala, debutant Grigor Dimitrov has rushed into the final round of the ATP finals and, alongside Roger Federer, is now the second semi-finalist of London.

The world number six from Bulgaria disassembled David Goffin (No. 7)6-0,6-2 in his second group game according to all the rules of the art.

Two days earlier, the Belgian had defeated Rafael Nadal in three sets. The Spanish industry leader had withdrawn after the game against Goffin and ended his season prematurely.

Sub-player Pablo Carreno Busta (Spain) will face the Austrian Dominic Thiem (No. 4) on Wednesday evening, who lost his first match against Dimitrov and wants to maintain his semi-final chance with a win.

On Tuesday Grand Slam record champion Federer had qualified as the first professional for the preliminaries round in London. The Swiss player beat Alexander Zverev (Hamburg/No. 3) in three sets and has already been declared the winner of the Boris-Becker Group.

Dimitrov (26), who has won three titles so far this year (Cincinnati, Sofia, Brisbane), dominated the 74-minute duel with Goffin at will. This year’s Davis Cup finalist scored only twelve points in the opening set. The 26-year-old Goffin had to give up the first nine games before he was able to cut back to 1:3 in the second set.

Dimitrov was the first Bulgarian to qualify for the individual field of the season-end tournament.
