WTA: After knife attack: Investigations about Kvitova raid stopped

The Czech police stopped the investigation into the attack on Petra Kvitova’s apartment last December. The public had been given numerous clues, but the authorities reported that they could not identify the criminals.

“It was not possible to find enough facts to initiate persecution (certain persons, note),”police spokeswoman Jitka Dolejsova said in a letter.

Kvitova was born on 20. December 2016 in her apartment in Prostejov by burglars who disguised themselves as craftsmen, attacked with a knife and injured heavily at her left hand. Since tendons were damaged by all five fingers, a four-hour emergency surgery was necessary to minimize permanent damage.

In May, Kvitova returned to the WTA tour and a month later, he even won a tournament at the Aegon Classic in Birmingham. After further successes such as the move into the quarter-finals at the US Open, the 27-year-old is currently ranked 29th in the world rankings.
