Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal raptured the fans at the Laver Cup.The legendary duo won in three sets against Jack Sock and Sam Querrey in the first joint double appearance.
World premiere successful!Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal together in doubles, the world of tennis was looking forward to it:”Fedal” beat Jack Sock and Sam Querrey 6:4,1:6 and 10:5 in Prague.Team Europe is now entering the final day with a comfortable 9:3 lead.
They laughed, joked and won.Rafa and Roger were in great shape from the first rally.The groundbreaking break came in the seventh game, but it was tricky once again: Querrey/Sock fired from all pipes, but the US boys were unable to take advantage of their four equaliser chances.
After Federer had finished the first round with a commanding exit, the cards were reshuffled.The “Maestro” was now shaking the net more often, the enormous speed of Sock and Querrey made the Swiss man very difficult.Logical result: Compensation of the sentences!
In the all-important match break, Federer and Nadal were again highly concentrated.With frenetic applause, the audience favourites quickly moved to 8:1.Querrey/Sock did not give up, but after the second match point the two grandmasters were allowed to celebrate from the sold-out hall.
The Laver Cup will be played in three days and twelve matches.Each day there are three individual matches and a doubles match.On Friday and Saturday there is a day session as well as a night session.The Laver Cup will close on Sunday with a day session.
Single and double matches are played in the Laver Cup in best-of-three mode.A match win will bring one point on Friday, two points on Saturday and three points on the final day.In order to win the Laver Cup, the team needs 13 out of 24 possible points.
If points are scored after the 12 matches between Team Europe and the 12:12 World Choice, there will be a decider in doubles on the last day.
In the course of the Laver Cup each player completes a maximum of 2 single games.Four of the six players in each team must compete in doubles, with each doubles combination only allowed to compete together once.
