Her biggest success made her fall into a hole of motivation: But now Dominika Cibulkova is back!

The victory at the WTA finals 2016 in Singapore – it was the biggest success in Dominika Cibulkova’s career. Who let their fans hope for a strong 2017, maybe even a Grand Slam title. But nothing came of it: from 5th place at the end of 2016 it went down to 26th place at the end of the past season. One reason: Cibulkova no longer wanted to play tennis.

After the Singapore triumph two weeks later, Cibulkova said,”I’m not like Federer: he wins a Grand Slam tournament and it’s normal for him. For me, it was gigantic!”

I didn’t play tennis for ten weeks,”she said after Beijing last year. I had to do this to realize that I want to keep it up, that I have the energy to fight, to be motivated. I enjoyed the time, but I want to play again and achieve something big.”

She had been at home with her husband, made trips to Prague and the Maldives “I had the luxury of time. And I realized that’s what I want to do after tennis. This will be my life.” After eight weeks she was motivated again this time.”When I started with the fitness training, I was hot again!”
