ATP: Mischa Zverev sets course for premiere title

Mischa Zverev approaches his first tournament win on the ATP Tour.The 30-year-old has reached the semi-finals in Metz.

Mischa Zverev has reached the semi-finals of an ATP tournament in Metz, France, for the third time this year.At the Hartplatz event, which was endowed with 540,130 euros, the 30-year-old beat Kenny de Schepper in the round of the last eight after 1:31 hours with 7:5,7:6 (7:4).

The Frenchman had only slipped into the field after the relinquishment of the top seeded Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta as Lucky Loser.Zverev had previously lost the only duel against de Schepper this year in Montpellier.Mischa Zverev, number 27 in the world rankings, may face Peter Gojowczyk from Munich in Saturday’s semi-finals, but he must first beat Romanian Marius Copil.Zverev had already reached the semi-finals in Stuttgart and Geneva in 2017.In Switzerland, he lost to local hero Stan Wawrinka in the final.The 30-year-old is still waiting for his premiere title on the ATP tour.
