Ski Alpin: When Hirscher wants to make his comeback
Marcel Hirscher doesn’t want to rush into anything after his ankle fracture after a training crash:”I think that if I can be in Beaver Creek it would be perfect – everything else would be very, very optimistic”, the alpine ski star wrote in his blog on redbull. com.In Beaver Creek will take place on 1.December one Super-G and two days later a giant slalom.
“It takes a long time,”Hirscher emphasized, who had suffered an almost undisplaced fracture of the left outer ankle during training on the Mölltal glacier in mid-August.”Although half of the prescribed six weeks of training on the glacier was soon achieved, the way back on skis is a long one….there’s no use: would have, would have, would have.”
In a conversation with the Austria Press Agency, Hirschers medical officer Gerhard Oberthaler had already been in contact with the Austria Presse Agentur on 18.August 12 to 15 weeks break described as realistic. The physician accordingly mentioned a date between November and December as a comeback date.
The patient Hirscher is not inactive at the moment, however, as diverse pictures and videos show on his social media channels. He trains “specially” weak points for which there would normally be no time at this time of the year.Speak of certain parts of the upper body, important auxiliary musculature and of course the right foot,”explained the Salzburg resident,”It is important for me to find my rhythm and the right mindset, despite the plaster foot”.
What is more difficult this year is the transition in giant slalom: The radius of the skis for this discipline goes back from 35 to 30 meters.Hirscher made a conscious decision to test the new material only from September after the World Cup final in Aspen in March,”The fact that this is not possible now makes the coming season extremely exciting.I miss at the beginning, come what may, 20 to 25 valuable ski days, which Alexis (Pinturault; Note) and Co.on the new material,”he wrote.
“But as I said before, there’s no point in wailing.Instead, I am thankful that I had nothing at all for a good six years, except maybe a man’s cold,”Hirscher said, highlighting the positive. As far as the February Olympic Games in South Korea are concerned, he sees no problem at all:”I don’t worry about Pyeongchang at all!I’ll be in great shape again.”
