Ski Alpin: Ex-ÖSV-Star doesn’t believe in vonn start for men
The former ÖSV top rider Nicole Hosp doesn’t see much sense in Lindsey Vonns plans to ride with her on the men’s downhill in Lake Louise.
“I don’t think much of Lindsey’s wish.I think the men are supposed to compete in the men’s races and the women are supposed to compete in the women’s competitions,”says the three-time world champion opposite laola1,”It is and remains simply different. The gentlemen have more strength by nature.Their stature is naturally stronger and you don’t have to measure up to it,”she explains.
Nonetheless, I’m convinced that Lindsey with her skill and in’ her living room’ Lake Louise could make a very, very good figure compared to some gentlemen,”says Hosp, who is not allowed to compete in any kind of men’s race over the entire World Cup, but calls her” nonsense “.
Hosp’s argument that the gender-independent measurement of strength would be a great publicity for skiing is only of limited value to Hosp:”I’m not sure whether this door should be opened and so one has to give in to a desire. It is undisputedly very important for skiing. It polarizes and attracts a lot of attention to itself and the women’s racing sport. But on this point, I don’t agree with Lindsey and I can understand when the people in charge turn against their wishes.”
