Alpine Skiing: Men’s downhill?
The US Ski Federation’s request for a start of Lindsey Vonn in the men’s downhill of Lake Louise 2018 will be discussed at the next FIS Congress in Greece next May.
This was reported by USSA on Wednesday. The association had submitted the proposal to the Executive Committee of the World Cup Committee the day before at the FIS Autumn Conference in Zurich.
“There is support for the proposal among the executive members, but there are still many outstanding points within the FIS,”said Patrick Riml, Alpine Director of the US federation,”We are encouraged by the discussion and the fact that there is now a formal application to the FIS and that we can revise it together during the season,”the Austrian added.
Vonn, who is almost 33 years old, is the most successful female ski racer of all time at World Cup victories (77).Alone in Lake Louise she has won 18 races (14 downhill, 4 Super-G).One of her remaining career goals is to beat Sweden’s all-time victory record Ingemar Stenmark (86).
