Ski-Alpine: Does Ligety Hirscher put the rejection in his shoes?
As feared, the men’s Alpine Ski World Cup season opener in Sölden, scheduled for today’s Sunday, has been cancelled. Due to the announced storm, the safety on the Rettenbach remote control cannot be guaranteed for the persons involved.
The first round of the giant slalom should have started at 10:00 a. m., postponement was not an option because of the forecast. The Ski World Cup will continue in mid-November with one slalom each for women (11th) and men (12th) in Levi (Finland).
Raised eyebrows were provided by Ted Ligety after the rejection. Maybe there’s a terrible weather up there, but the ÖSV president has already announced days before that the event will be cancelled. That seems suspicious.”
Then Ligety alludes to the injured Marcel Hirscher:”It’s funny, her biggest star drops out and the race is cancelled”. Hirscher, Veith, Vonn, Vonn and others: The ski stars once and today © GEPA1/42Marcel Hirscher 2017© GEPA2/42Marcel Hirscher 2006© GEPA3/42Beat Feuz 2017
