Bob: No four-man race at the World Cup in Lake Placid
The World Cup opener of the bobsleigh athletes this week at Lake Placid in the USA will take place without four-seater races due to the track conditions.
This was announced by the IBSF shortly before the competitions on Thursday and Friday. Instead, a second two-man race is held. At the World Cup next week in Park City (17th/18th place) November) two four-man decisions will be taken. Women’s appointments don’t change.
Due to the relatively high temperatures, the ice in the former Olympic track of Lake Placid did not reach the necessary hardness for the big sleds, therefore regular conditions for all participants cannot be guaranteed.
Looking ahead to the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang (9th place) till 25. The IBSF does not want to take any risks if every single World Cup is important for the qualification process this winter.
