Ski-Alpine: Bad details about David Poisson’s death plunge

Skiing in general and the French Federation in particular were shocked by a fatal training accident on Monday. 16 years after the fall of Regine Cavagnoud in Austria, her compatriot David Poisson died in Canada. In training in Nakiska/Alberta, Canada, the 35-year-old fell to his downfall, the details were not known for the time being.

A long-time companion of the ski circus, who stayed during the Nakiska incident, revealed:”Poisson slipped at about 100 km/h just before the finish line and shot into the forest through two so-called B-fishing nets. There he must have collided quite head-on with a tree. A rescue team then tried to resuscitate David for about an hour and a half without success.”

According to the Swiss Ski Association, Swiss skiers Beat Feuz, Patrick Küng, Mauro Caviezel, Marc Gisin and Gilles Rouli also trained on the piste at the time of the accident. They should have started after the Frenchman’s unit.

A functionary, who did not want to be named and is in Copper Mountain (Colorado) with his team, confirmed the view:”I know from my own experience that it is particularly critical in Nakiska with regard to securing, because there are only a few B-networks just under a metre before the tree line.”.
