Curling: German men start into the European Championship with victory
The German curling men have won the European Championships in St. Gallen. Gall started. The team around Skip Alexander Baumann celebrated a 4:2 victory against Slovakia. The second game of the German team becomes a Herculean task. The opponent on Saturday evening at 7.30 p. m. is Sweden, who recently became European Champion three times in a row.
The two German teams not only want to secure their tickets for the 2018 World Championships in Switzerland (at least seventh place each) but also want to gain self-confidence for the Olympic qualification.
From the 5th. till 10. The aim of the second round of the Olympic Qualifyer in Pilsen, Czech Republic, on 12 December, is to secure one of the two starting positions for the winter games in Pyeongchang after the missing direct qualification via the detour Olympic Qualifyer.
The women’s team of the German Curling Association (DCV) is set up in St. Gallen. Gall led by Skip Daniela Jentsch (feet). In the first game on Saturday (14.00 hrs) Hungary will be the opponent.
