Curling: European Curling Championships: Women’s real chance for a World Cup ticket
At the European Championships in St. Moritz, Germany’s women curlers won the European Championships. Gall protected their chance of winning the World Cup ticket. The team around Skip Daniela Jentsch (feet) celebrated their second win in a row on Wednesday morning with a 9:4 against Italy and improved to fifth place.
However, like the German team, Russia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary and Turkey also have 2:5 victories.
Jentsch and Co. meet the Turks in their last two matches on Wednesday evening (19:00) and Russia on Thursday (14:00). The German men around Skip Alexander Baumann (Schwenningen) are in fifth place with 4:3 wins.
The two German teams each need at least seventh place to qualify for the World Championships in 2018. The Men’s World Cup takes place in Las Vegas, the Women’s World Cup in North Bay, Canada.
The same goes for St.. Gallen is looking for self-confidence for the decisive Olympic elimination in Pilsen in December, where the last two tickets for the winter games in Pyeongchang/South Korea will be awarded.
