Ski Alpin: Touching farewell to Poisson
The ski men in Lake Louise said goodbye to David Poisson with a touching moment. On Wednesday afternoon, the World Cup riders and coaches gathered on the shores of Lake Louisensee to stop for a moment around a fire. A picture was taken of the fatally injured racing driver.
“We all have broken hearts,”said FIS media coordinator Sophie Clivaz, who had organized this tribute together with ÖSV press officer Markus Aichner, in a short speech. The fire was kept burning for a long time into the night,”I thank everyone for participating. It was a very special moment to think about David again together,”explained FIS race director Markus Waldner.
Poisson (35) died last week in a fatal accident during the season preparation training in nearby Nakiska. According to the observations of trainers, the Frenchman had lost control of his ski after crossing the finish line. Poisson then hit two B-safety fences at high speed and was fatally injured in the subsequent collision with a tree.
