Figure Skating: Naturalization certificate for Vice World Champion Massot
Pair-runner-up world champion Bruno Massot has now also officially received his naturalisation certificate. A photo of the 28-year-old on the homepage of the German Ice-skating Union (DEU) shows the partner of five-time world champion Aljona Savchenko at the district administration office Oberallgäu in Sonthofen with the original document in her hands.
Last week, the runners-up European champions had already been informed that the Frenchman Massot, who was born in France, passed the language test required for naturalisation at the third attempt.
According to the regulations of the ISU World Ice-skating Federation, couples of different nationalities are allowed to compete in European and World Championships, but not in Olympic Games.
For the first time, Savchenko/Massot will be the German couple at the Grand Prix finale from 7. till 9 December in Nagoya on the ice. Further starts on the way to the Olympic Winter Games in South Korean Pyeongchang (9. till 25. February) are the German Championships on 15/16 February. The European championships will take place in Frankfurt/Main on December 12 and Moscow in mid-January.
